Asano Hotel is a Japanese style business and long term stay hotel. All rooms are tatami-and-futon style. As this is a long-term stay hotel, your room will more closely resemble an apartment than a swanky-4-star-hotel. Being apartment-styled, each room is equipped with its own mini-kitchen (sink, burner, mini-fridge, and kitchen accessories).
With your own kitchen, it’ll be easy for you to make breakfast in the morning or maybe a midnight snack if you are so inclined. Let’s all stock up on cereal and get our days started ASAP! Internet is available in all rooms through either a wired LAN connection, with some rooms having WiFi access. If you are bringing a computer and want to get on the internet, make sure to bring a LAN cable with you.
Each room also has its own toilet and shower/tub combo. As this is a business hotel, your standard fair of amenities (razor, shampoo/conditioner, toothbrush, yukata, towel, hair dryer) are not included with the room (similar to our hotels for Nagano Soccer and Gunma Canyoning). You are free to bring your own bathroom accoutrements (which is recommended so you can use the bath on the ferry). If you don’t bring your own amenities with you, never fear! Toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, and razors are available to purchase at the front desk for 50 yen each. You are able to rent a bath towel set and yukata for your stay from the front desk for 150 yen each. The front desk has hair dryers available for you to borrow, and the hotel also has a coin operated washer and drier.
We will have 8 rooms for our group split across the second, third, and fourth floors of the hotel. The hotel asks that guests be aware of their noise volume before 8.00 and after 22.00. The first floor of houses the hotel’s café. The café is decorated with antique toys and 60’s era furniture, making it a groovy area to relax in. You can get eat breakfast here, if you let the owner know ahead of time. There is a fresh pasta breakfast set (780 yen) or an Asami porridge breakfast set (680 yen) available. The cafe also serves tea, coffee, snacks, and some alcoholic drinks. The operating hours of the café are from 8.00 to 20.00.
The entire hotel has a feeling of home, with antique furniture and toys decorating the shelves and halls, with your room being a place for you to escape. While Asano Hotel is a great place to relax, the biggest draw to the site is location. Asano Hotel is less than 2 blocks from Odori Park, the main location of Sapporo’s snow festival. Less than a block from the hotel is a Lawson conbini, and there are 2 different subway stations (Nishi 18chome and Nishi 15chome) that are less than a five minute walk away.
To reach Asano Hotel from Nishi 18Chome Tozai Line Station, take exit 5. Upon reaching street level, turn right. You will reach a traffic light intersection with a Lawson on the corner. At this street, turn left. Walk 40m and turn right down the first side street. Asano Hotel will be on your left.
Asano Hotel is equipped to be your home away from home while you are visiting Sapporo. Walking distance from Odori Park, Maruyama Park (30 minute walk), and minutes from several main subway lines, we’ll be positioned to make the most out of our time up north!
