Details: A music festival in the Iizaka Onsen area of Fukushima City on April 1st. 34 bands over 6 stages, all within walking distance of Iizaka Onsen Station. Advance tickets are 4000 yen, or 4500 yen on the day (and includes two tickets for local onsens that can be used any time in April).
Details: Nihonmatsu is hosting a hanami at the castle park on April 8th. It’s a fun day, and it’s walkable from the station. Please do come join us if you have time! It starts from 12 ish and runs until 5, there is also parking at the castle!
Details: This massive tug-of-war contest is held every year in Date city. Three different teams compete to pull a giant bag of steamed glutinous rice weighing 800 kilograms. The festival is to pray for good harvests, business, and health for the coming year, and is also said to be one of the top 10 festivals in Fukushima prefecture.
Details: The Happy and Thanks Heart Project consists of illuminations, a stage show, and a market. The illuminations will be located at various well-known places around the city and will be up until March 12th. The stage show will feature performances to celebrate the progress that has been made since the earthquake and tsunami in 2011, and the market will benefit the recovery efforts for the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, as well as the earthquake that hit Kumamoto prefecture last year.
