It’s a new year, which means not only pondering resolutions, but also deciding whether or not to re-contract. For those destined to leave us all in a teary wake, there’s the 2010 Conference for Returning JETs.
This conference is optional and aimed at second- to fifth-year JET Programme participants completing their tenure on the JET Programme in the summer of 2010. It will be held in Yokohama on March 1-3. Many past FuJETs have found it to be worth the trip, as the conference provides information and strategies for making life-path decisions, searching for employment, preparing for reverse culture shock, and dealing with the practicalities of returning home. Presentations will be given by speakers related to industry and employment, embassy representatives, and past JET Programme participants.
Participation is free. However, travel and hotel accommodation expenses are your responsibility. CLAIR has suggested to Contracting Organisations that JET Programme participants be given “special leave” to attend the conference, but this will be at the discretion of each individual Contracting Organisation. Please obtain permission to attend this conference before applying.
Attendance at the conference is limited to 600 participants. To register for the conference, please fill out the online application form (Google Spreadsheet) and have your supervisor submit the supervisor confirmation form (Word document) by fax to CLAIR.
The deadline for applications to be submitted is January 18. You will be notified of the success of your application by the end of January.
If you have any questions about the conference, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the JET Programme website for more information.
