Date: Saturday, Jan 30, 10am-5pm AND Sunday 10am-4pm
Location: Koriyama, at Fukushima “Big Palette” Convention Center (ビッグパレットふくしま)
Entrance Fee: 300 yen
I’m gonna keep this short and to the point. If you’re around Koriyama this weekend and you don’t have anything to do during the day, you should definitely check this festival out! Basically, its a massive festival dedicated to all kinds of food. There will be food stalls all over this convention center, even spilling out into the parking lot.
Just to give you an idea of how big this’ll be, let me break it down for you in simpler terms.
There will be 16 different vendors just for ramen (i.e. ramen from different parts of Japan)
10 for sweets/desserts (waffles, ice cream, baked goods, etc.)
10 for produce (fresh fruits/veggies, preserved veggies, etc.)
6 for world foods (curry, kababs, chinese food, etc.)
25 for “festival foods” (burgers, kababs, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, etc.)
32 for local specialties
2 for udon/soba
2 for local sake
7 for nabe/local gourmet
In addition to all the food stands, there’ll be a big raffle (top prize being a 32 inch plasma tv, 2nd being a PS3), a comedy show, a cooking class, a probably a bunch more! (I say probably because I’m reading this out of a Japanese article in the local newspaper….so I really don’t know!)
So, as I said before, if you’ve got nothing better to do, want to fill your stomach with awesome food, or simply want to support some of the local restaurants and stores in our area, come out to Koriyama’s “Big Palette” on Jan 30-31.
